I set up my company in 2016 after working freelance for many years. I helped large organisations to recruit graduates, school leavers and experienced individuals too.
The recruitment processes I supported and trained managers and partners to participate in were very structured, thorough and excellent at selecting the very best people, who would be good at the job and fit into the team.
However, when I talked to people working in small businesses, I heard a very different story. I found that they rarely had any structure in place when recruiting staff and their decisions on who they brought into their business seemed to me to be based mainly on guesswork. This often resulted in new recruits not working out and having to be managed out of the business, causing stress, and uncertainty to the rest of the team. Not to mention the time wasted and costs incurred.
So I thought, if large organisations can have the skills and use processes that identify brilliant people and safeguard against making recruitment mistakes, why shouldn’t micro and small businesses have the same structured and robust system in place.
My aim is to eliminate the guesswork and introduce SMEs to a professional, proven method of recruiting, using structured interviews and other forms of job related assessments.
